Normally The Royal Variety Performance is presented at The London Palladium. However, 1982 was one of those years when it was staged at the second choice venue, of Theatre Royal Drury Lane, because the show that was then on at The Palladium had a set in it that could not be easily taken down for the purposes of putting on this show.
