The Defence Helicopter Flying School (DHFS) was a military flying school based at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire, England. The school, established in 1997, was a tri-service organisation and trained helicopter aircrews for all three British armed forces.

2 gen 2015 · In April 1997, the Squadron moved to RAF Shawbury as part of the Tri-Service Defence Helicopter Flying School (DHFS). In February 2020, The Defence Helicopter Flying School was rebadged to 1 Flying Training School and 705 Naval Air Squadron remains as one of Squadrons within the School.
5 feb 2024 · The Defence Helicopter Flying School formed at RAF Shawbury to consolidate the helicopter training of all three services. 2 Flight Training Squadron of the RAF, 705 Naval Air Squadron and 670 Army Air Corps Squadron amalgamated in the new School.
2 set 2019 · The upgraded facilities were only opened in April and the Defence Helicopter Flying School has already seen its first set of pilots graduate. The school now boasts 29 Juno helicopters - the biggest fleet in the country, as well as three Jupiter aircraft.

In February 2020, the Defence Helicopter Flying School based at RAF Shawbury in Shropshire, was renamed No. 1 Flying Training School and operates 29 Airbus H135 'Juno' and 3 Airbus H145 'Jupiter'.

The parade celebrated both the graduation of the first 13 pilots to complete their training within the Rotary Wing UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) as well as the graduation of 9 helicopter Rearcrew.
